Yesterday afternoon the First Minister announced further restrictions in Scotland. These restrictions have a direct and devastating impact on the majority of Scotland’s hospitality sector. We also appreciate that businesses across the tourism sector are receiving cancellations due to consumer lack of confidence and confusion about what the new rules mean with regards to travel. Wild Scotland and Sail Scotland have together sought direct clarification from the Scottish Government and offer the following statement:
Following a national announcement and direct clarification with Scottish Government around hospitality restrictions and travel recommendations, it is Wild Scotland’s understanding that travel advice relating to travel to, from and within Greater Glasgow Ayrshire & Arran, Lanarkshire, Forth Valley and Lothian area does not prevent individuals participating in organised outdoor tourism activities, to or within these areas.
However, if you are an activity provider within one of the above restricted areas who follow specific contact sports NGB guidance then your activity within the restricted area cannot take place.
If you have a holiday booked you can still go, however you should think carefully about whether you need to travel, avoid non-essential unplanned visits, and regardless of area, participants are asked to act with great care and follow the principles
of #respectprotectenjoy and/or #RespectTheDestination
