Following Reece Wilson’s amazing Downhill World Champion title win on Sunday (11 October), the UCI has confirmed the 2021 Mountain Bike World Cup calendar, including a 19th event at Fort William, on 22-23 May.

The action-packed weekend event is set to return next year following the cancellation of the 2020 Fort William event for the first time since 2002.

Adding to the two years of anticipation and pent-up excitement will be the chance to see Reece Wilson as the reigning World Champion at his home World Cup. All the passionate fans and the world’s top riders will be more than ready to experience the return of Fort William’s world-beating downhill action in May next year.

The UCI Mercedes Benz Mountain Bike World Cup is always a key highlight of Scotland’s sporting calendar. As events across the globe learn to adapt to Covid-19 impacts, the event organisers are committed to working with the UCI and the Scottish Government to put in place appropriate measures which will be in line with the guidance in place at the time.

The UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in Fort William is one of the must-see events on the Scottish sporting calendar, so it is great to have the dates for next year’s event confirmed after the cancellation of this year’s event. I’m sure fans will be especially eager for next year’s event after Reece Wilson’s win at the World Championships on the weekend.

Scotland is the perfect stage for events and EventScotland looks forward to continuing to work with the organisers of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in Fort William as we build towards Glasgow and Scotland hosting the inaugural UCI Cycling World Championships in 2023.
